Our mate Marty races on the precursor to the Class 40, a Reichel Pugh that’s fully electric. We think it’s sweet. Also, he has an embroidery company and does a great job, so as well as doing our Toecutter merch, he put the time into setting up a really great stitch layout for our Stacked Kraken Logo. I don’t even have one of these, we had a bunch made before the Hobart last year, and too many people asked me for one. I even gave the one Stu was wearing to a sailor flying back to the USA at Hobart airport on New Years Day Night.
I think that sailor at the airport was on the boat on the startline that called water on us on the Sow and Pigs so I thought he deserved one. Anyway, I promised Stu that I had a spare one waiting at home. Stu’s worn this one in the photo for over a year, and let me borrow it for my recent trip to the Race to Alaska, but only on strict instructions that I promised not to give it to anyone. It’s probably time I order some new ones. Besides, it’s school holidays so the girls can mail them out as a nice break from weeding for pocket money.
Get one. They’re pretty good. They cost what they cost because they’re made with love. We don’t make any margin on them, but we’re happy for people to rep our brand. But on that, don’t be like Rhys, who was sitting on the rail and gave a whole ferry full of tourists the bird because they were right on the racing line out of Sydney heads. I wouldn’t have minded except we’d put a massive logo on the main, and Rhys was sitting right in front of it. He says he waited till he was looking the ferry captain in the eye, but I don’t think the tourists knew that it wasn’t directed at them, and that they had broken the exclusion zone. That sort of thing is lost when the video of our trimmer flipping the bird in front of a giant Kraken Sails logo hits social media. He tells me he also wears his hat to festivals and has fights with Vegans who think when they leave their table to watch the fireworks, that they should get it back when they return. I guess I can’t censor people repping the brand, so go on, do what you’re going to do.
Ideally you’ll wear it while you take someone sailing for the first time ever.
It’s a hat. It’s Navyish. It has red stitching. If you’re bald like Rhys put on some sunscreen because the back is mesh.
**We’ll take orders and do them in a batch, so you won’t get them as fast as an Amazon order. But I might throw in some stickers or a rogue sail tie…
Prices are in Aussie Dollars. If you’re in the States, that’s basically Canadian.
