Basic Set Up

These are the tracks that run from the centreline out, rather than for/aft.

Waterline Measurements

Depending on your boat, there can be a great variation in deck contour, luckily the water tends to be flat. We'll take some measurements at key points to anchor them to the plane.
Tape measure on the water surface, up to forestay pin.
It might help to use a batten or broomstick to take the horizontal height out to the edge of the boat. This is the height from waterline to the bearing point of the jib car, when it's positioned most forward.
